I love the presentation of this map, but to me, Cantha looks far too big.
Cantha looks more in proportion to me in Tinkler's post, but I think it could be even smaller.
Just my opinions of course.

The battle Isles are just north of cantha, and yes, Cantha IS that small... Cantha is the smallest Continent, you can figure that out based on the dificulty of achieving 1% of explorer. In cantha, a full aggro bar = 1% about, while in Tyria, its about .5%. Using this as your guide, you can safely assume Tyria is 2x bigger then Cantha

To me, this is the best one yet. Though I still think Cantha should be a bit farther south, thats just my impression though.

Well, seems to bee working for me this afternoon...wonder what was up last night. The map GmrLeon posted seems to be the most accurate so far. At the very least its the most detailed. I disagree with the sentiment that Cantha's a bit too close, however. The Battle Isles seem like they should be within reasonable reach of Tyria, like they are depicted.

Two more hints we get in the Guild Wars Nightfall Manuscripts (which comes with the game): - On page 49: "Between the northwest coast of Cantha and the southern rim of Elona, a deadly sea is troubled...".
- On page 56: "the Battle Isles north of Cantha...".
So, that would mean that the map looks something like shown below (forgive me the poor quality of the picture - I'm by no means a graphical artist).
If you have more info pertaining to this, leave a post.

Why does everyone tend to ignore this quote "On page 49: "Between the northwest coast of Cantha and the southern rim of Elona, a deadly sea is troubled..."."
If the southern rim of Elona is that area where the corsairs hangout which is southeast of Elona then Cantha is just southeast of Elona. So Cantha should be more towards east and not west.
As for the battle isles, it's hard to figure out where it is exactly located. north of Cantha could mean northwest, north, or northeast. Just like how in the nf manual states of the "northern areas" which could mean that it is not north of Tyria.

the world is a sphere. the north part of tyria very well could be the south part of cantha. but i doubt it, the world of guild wars is pretty small...

I doubt it, there is a lot of talk about trading between cantha and tyria that seems to indicate that there is a sea seperating them. Also, if they were joined, they would not be seperate continents.

err, actually, that shows exactly what you are talking about, lol
The southern part of Elona is northeast of cantha This leads me to believe that his map is fairly acurate.
I disagree with his positioning of the Battle Isles though, I feel they should be closer to Tyria then Elona, while still being closest to Cantha

i really like the last map that is posted but with two changes cantha is alot small and more to the east fo rit to make sence with On page 49: "Between the northwest coast of Cantha and the southern rim of Elona, a deadly sea is troubled..."."
and also with everything with how it looks it will be to my mind that 4th chapter wil be south west of cantha but mostly western as it comes north abit on the far west side
we dont know if the guild wars mapping is a globe or if they will just keep adding on but if they want to make a world it would have to be round and to show that you woul d have to make a globe of all 3 maps and add some shape to make it look more like it should be

On your map the Cantha northwest coast is west from the southern rim of Elona, instead of east. But maybe I'm mistaking.

I've seriously had enough of people pointing to this statement and claiming that Cantha is southeast of Elona. Here's why you're wrong:
Jatoro Musagi, located in Kodlonu Hamlet, Istan: I believe "ahai" is the appropriate greeting, yes? Well, ahai, (character name)! I am Jatoro Musagi. I hail from the southwest, where the great island of Shing Jea rests upon clear cool shores. Cantha is home to the great Dragon Empire."
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Jatoro_Musagi
See this post of mine for further details on why Cantha is definitely southwest of Elona (and south of Tyria):

Besides, don't you think we would have noticed we were passing Elona as we were on the ship to Cantha?
Quote:
"Between the northwest coast of Cantha and the southern rim of Elona, a deadly sea is troubled by sudden storms and cyclones, hidden reefs and dangerous sea creatures."

This sentence does not place Cantha southeast of Elona. Look at it like this:
(not to scale - the distance between Elona and Cantha is probably a lot greater, so these 'deadly seas' would cover a much larger area)
The red line goes from 'the southern rim of Elona' to 'the northwest coast of Cantha', and the 'deadly seas' are between those two points. So, I think that sentence just means 'from this corner to this corner'.

Sorry if I came across as a bit aggressive, I'm just a little tired of seeing the misuse of that manual reference over and over again.
On another note, I don't think we'll ever know whether the world is flat or if it is a sphere, because of this:
Quote:
175 BE | Margonite settlements appear along coastlines north and west of Elona. Margonite vessels rule the Unending Ocean.

this is a possible outline of how chapter 4 would look like....if it was north....does it fit on the map?
http://www.ipl.org/div/cquest/antarctica/anflag.gif
btw you know where the theory of where orr is on tyrias map?.......to the east on the same land theres a mountain, well opening..... the explosion could have caused that mountain, well more than just a mountian, an opening from tyria....to the Uw(INVASION!!!!!!)

Not necassarily. I suspect most of Europe probably had a similar idea about the Atlantic before Columbus. We can conclude that no ships have crossed it yet and returned to tell the tale, but that's not to say it can't happen.
There's no guarantee that it will, of course. But it could.
